W.A.S.P. Recruit YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Drummer For North American Tour
February 25, 2006W.A.S.P. have recruited drummer Patrick Johansson (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) to replace Stet Howland, who left the band earlier in the month. Patrick made his live debut with W.A.S.P. Friday night (Feb. 24) at The Legends Theatre in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Johansson, 29, was born in a small town called Falun in middle of Sweden, but currently resides in West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition to YNGWIE, Johansson has played and recorded with the Swedish bands WITHOUT GRIEF and STORMWIND. He also spent time jamming with ANTHRAX guitarist Dan Spitz in a new project called WASABI, although it is presently unclear if the results of those rehearsal/songwriting sessions will ever see the light of day. Spitz was so impressed with Patrick's skills that he referred to him in an online posting as "an amazing double-bass drummer of death."
W.A.S.P.'s next live appearance will take place Saturday night (Feb. 25) at the Florida State Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida.
